Human body consists of 70% water. Moon effects the whole tide system of the Oceans. It is quite logical to think that there is some effect to our bodies too (which might effect our minds). Maybe we haven't done the correct type of studies yet.

Research on menstrual cycle has not found any link with the moon cycle; therefore it is a myth! 😂🤣
A myth becomes a myth only when it has been scientifically disproved, not because there is a lack of evidence!!!

You ever been in an ER/police station/mental health facility on a full moon? There may not be a way to measure it well but activity is definitely different around the full moon. More acute cases. More off the wall cases. I didn't used to believe it because there isn't empirical evidence to back it up... But once I started working I can tell you when we're in/near the full moon. The first several times I had exceptionally wild days someone pointed out we were in/near a full moon. I thought no way, coincidence. But every major call I've had in the past year has happened either on or within just a day or two of the full moon. Every last one.

Confirmation bias. They have already suspect that full moons will bring more trouble. The problem is they don’t take into account the tons of times that nothing interesting happens on a full moon.

You did discuss the fact that the moon has a huge impact on the oceans and all bodies of water but I didn't hear anything about a correlation or lack thereof - to our own bodies which being basically 3/4 water it would seem there would be at least some effect.....perhaps related to blood pressure or edema or some other functions of water in our bodies... Another thing was that the relationship between the moon and menstruation was basically characterized as "perhaps a coincidence"...I have found there are very few examples that are "merely" coincidental... IDK I think there is still a lot we don't yet know about the relationship, But I do and will always enjoy gazing at the moon, on some nights it is just spectacular!!!

I wounder if the moon and menstrual cycle was originally connected just by woman using the size of the moon to predict when there next period would be. I know mine's 2 days after the new moon as was my mother's and my best friends is on the waxing half moon. I had been taught to track my periods and my ovulation by the moon and it's position and it works as long as you have a regular cycle. And I can see this kind of thing being confused by men thinking the moon caused it some how but it was just a way to track this kind of thing without a calendar handy. Because trust me knowing it's coming is definitely the best way to deal with it no matter what time in history it happens.

I always thought that more mushrooms grow on a full moon.
Maybe it's because I find more mushrooms with a full moon.
Either way, I always find more when I don't use a flash light, and I just let my eyes adjust to the night time darkness. Now that I am too old to jump the fence, hide from the farmer, run behind a tree when there is a stampede, dive in the mud and tall grass when the farmer starts shooting, and run from the bull, now I just ask around and find someone who will let me go picking during the day.

Since about 20-25 years ago I have been doing this, quite passively: when several friends or other people mentioned within a timespan of a few days (or a week) that they had their period, I checked the state of the Moon. The vast majority of times the periods of very different women in very different places happened to occur during Full Moon, or not far before that nor far later.
I checked this out probably hundreds of times. It's tempting to consider that I was just checking this when there was full Moon. But it's not the case because it happened in the other direction: I had no idea what stage the Moon was at until I checked it up after finding the "strange coincidence" that several friends of mine living in different cities or countries had their period at the same time, or at least in days pretty close to each other.
I can't remember any (or almost any) case in which 3 or 4 of them had their period "synchronised" on new Moon of any other point but relatively close to full Moon.
So, maybe others buy your "mere coincidence theory". But I don't.
The comparison to chimpanzees seems very tempting when I serves us to "prove us right", apparently. Not when it doesn't.
Cheers!

Question regarding 1 - Humans get less sleep.
What else - besides visible light - does the moon reflect with the same cyclic variation which might affect humans (and other animals), but cannot be controlled/blocked as easily as visible light?

When people say there will be trouble on a night out during a full moon it goes back hundreds of years, before street lighting etc people used to go out during a full moon because they could see, otherwise it was pitch black simple as that,
and so there was more trouble during a full moon as there were many intoxicated people which on any other night would not be there

Surely the scorpion thing is slightly counterproductive, when he glows he gives off more light in the already bright moonlight making him easier to see, so surely it would force him to stay inside during all full moons and probably a lot during the rest of the cycle

My mum works nights as a nurse in a nursing home. She has told me for years that the residents are more "difficult" when there is a full moon. She put this down to the old myth of the full moon causing madness, but after watching this video I suspect it is just because the residents are not sleeping as well as they do at other times.

Here is anecdotal evidence for further study of human menstrual cycles and the moon's cycles. I happen to know many women who lived or live in off-the-grid hippie communes with no electricity whatsoever. These were communities with 20 people or so. The women would all menstruate at the same time, and all during the full moon. Perhaps there is something in living with the electromagnetic fields of tech that throws this off (if it isn't a coincidence) or with being able to turn bright lights on at night (which would be retinal influence and not an electromagnetic one) or perhaps there is some combination thereof.

This presenter has obviously never worked in a hospital emergency ward, as a paramedic, police officer or in a psychiatric ward during a full moon, I remember a high care aged care worker telling me that many of the advanced dementia patients act up during the full moon, the majority of people may feel no lunar effect, but people who work in the mentioned areas most definitely see an effect on a minority of people.

The menstrual cycle "mystery" HAS a scientific explanation. Unlike other primates, early humans hunted at night... by moonlight. Well, the men did at least. That means women who were most fertile every time the moon wasn't out had more offspring, passing down those genes. If human's cycles stayed around the length of 37 days, then fertility would align far less often with their greatest opportunities to mate...which happened every 29 days. Our ancestors that had longer cycles got bred out of existence.

So true. Man, a lot of weird injuries and general weirdness going on during full moon. And more sex going on as well. At least where I worked. Way more likely to find someone doing the mad fantastic during a shift when full moon was at its peak - or so it was at the hospital I worked.
