Which is the best Devops Certification in 2020 ?
Which is the best Devops Certification in 2020 ?
Which Devops Certifications to consider in 2020 ? So here is my advise to you Dont go for one umbrella devops certification, go with tools based specific ones. I am going to divide the certifications into three categories. 1. Great to have ( worth spending your own money) 2. Good to have ( worth going for if someone’s sponsoring you) 3. Were good earlier, not relevant anymore (dying technologies, not future oriented) **Great to Have** Following are the certifications which offer the best Career value. * Certified Kubernetes Administrator(CKA): Expert Certification - Cloud Native Computing Foundation (www.cncf.io/certification/cka/) * AWS Sysops/Devops Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional (aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-devops-engineer-professional/) which also leads to professional level (more difficult ) AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional (aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-devops-engineer-professional/) * Terraform Associate Certificate: Exam Review - Terraform Associate Certification (learn.hashicorp.com/terraform/certification/terraform-associate-review) * Ansible Certification (Redhat Certified Specialist in Ansible) : Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation exam | EX407 (www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex407-red-hat-certified-specialist-in-ansible-automation-exam) Following certificates are good to have. If someone is sponsoring those and if have exhausted the above list of certificates, go for these. * Docker Certified Associate (DCA) : Docker - Certification (success.docker.com/certification) * Certified Jenkins Engineer : Jenkins Certification | Get Certified Today | CloudBees (www.cloudbees.com/jenkins/certification) Following certificates were valuable in past. I do not recommend these anymore as these are not future oriented technologies. Go with Ansible instead of Puppet and Chef certs. * Puppet Certification: Puppet Certification Program (puppetlabs.com/services/certification) * Chef Badges: Chef Certification (training.chef.io/certification) You could refer to the mindmap below to get a gist of everything that I have written here. Irrespective of the certifications following list of technologies are great to know in 2020 from a Devops Engineer/SRE perspective. * Ansible * Jenkins * Spinnaker * Terraform * Docker * Packer * Openshift * Istio * EFK ( Elasticsearch Fluentd Kibana for Log Analysis) * Prometheus + Grafana * Git * Linux/Systems Engineering * Scripting - Bash Finally, certification or not, what really matters is you being able to demonstrate your expertise. I know a lot of people (including I) who posses zero certifications, but still get hired as devops engineers, SREs, consultants, trainers purely based on the knowledge and practical experience. On the other side of the spectrum are the ones who have certifications, but very superficial knowledge, who do not go much further. So focus on the knowledge, and dont run after certifications, unless its going to add some real value. If you want to make a career as a Devops Engineer and struggling with * Lack of Information ( don’t know where to start) * Too much of information ( there is just too much of info that I am confused) * Lack of Practical Experience ( I know everything that I should learn, but do not know how to get practical experience ) Here is a two step action plan for you, * Level 1 (Conceptual) - Take my FREE course that I authored for Linux Foundation ( they own and manage Kubernetes, Jenkins, even Linux and many other projects) on Introduction to Devops and Site Reliability Engineering. (www.edx.org/course/introduction-to-devops-and-site-reliability-engineering) Learn all concepts related to Devops and Site Reliability Engineering. * Level 2 (Implementation) - Enroll to my course 30 Days Devops Bootcamp with special one time offer for quora readers from India (devops.pink/quora-30dbootcamp-in) | worldwide quora readers (devops.pink/quora-30dbootcamp-us) for Indian Students with a special offer where you would build a end to end Devops Use case with a 30 Days Project with day wise lessons, tasks and project work.

Kubernetes is a container orchestration engine, and is a core part of the open container eco system. So if you are considering setting up docker based delivery all the way through production, just docker is not enough. Kubernetes allows you to take the iamges you built with dockerfiles and deploys it at production scale. It comes with features which were only possible with public clouds such as auto scaling/dynamic capacity provisioning, fault tolerance, ability to create build strategies such as zero downtime deployments, blue green deployments, canary releases etc. Kubernetes is production ready and is battle hardended. Its the de facto standard in the world of container orchestration today. This video will explain you what is kubernetes by taking a anology with vms and cloud. Lightboard Studio in India by School of Devops
Lightboard Studio in India by School of Devops
2 years ago
Inspired by the lightboard technology created by Prof. Michael Peshkin from Northwestern University and flipped learning methodologies, we at School of Devops decided to incorporate this cool new technology into our learning platform. We are proud to be the pioneers to bring it to the world of devops education and one of the first to bring this revolutionary technology to India. We faced uniq challenges while constructing this in India as the naming convention for the glass, the materials are not very straightforward to procure locally in India. We had to start from which glass to use, what is Starfire equivalent in India, to procure and customize the frame, import the markers etc. It was also not very clear to us how to fit the LED lights, where to do that etc. and we did learn a lot during the process of building this lightboard studio. We also added some innovation such as using a gopro camera for voice activated recording, one button recording with video capture cards and are in process of upgrading to voice (alexa) activated lighting. If you would like to construct a lightboard in India, and need more information, do leave us comments with specific questions and we would be glad to answer. If there is a enough interest, we would also love to create some video content/course on this topic. If you are in Bangalore and would like to experience the lightboard studio, feel free to stop by at our HSR Layout office with prior appointment. Finally, if you are interested in learning devops technologies , do visit us at www.schoolofdevops.net and www.schoolofdevops.com

I stumbled upon your Ansible course long back on Safari online. The way you explain the complex concepts is just fantastic. This video and other videos from SchoolOfDevOps on USa-video are a great help to all the DevOps aspirants and veterans. Thanks a ton for great insights. Keep up the great work!

Sir, you tutorials are amazing for learning kubernetes. In my case i'm using nodejs as frontend and spring boot as backend. From browser when i access frontend application, the calls to backends are failing with name couldn't be resolved for the backend service names. Is there anything more i need to configure on nodejs so it can recognise kubernetes service names. Thanks in Advace :)
