Binging with Babish: Ram-Don from Parasite

Rarely does a dish serve as such a central metaphor for a film's primary conflict: in Parasite, boujee beef sits oppressively atop bargain noodles in the Park family's version of Ram-Don, the way they sit so literally atop others. It was tricky doing this one without spoilers, but I think I managed! Do yourself a favor: don't start "You" if you don't have a full day in which to binge the entire series. This soapy-fun Netflix series is, at its core, about dating...albeit in a frightening and murderous way. And dating, at its core, is about food - so it was inevitable that there end up being some delectable food porn in this stalker-rom-com. Today, we explore not only the passionately-prepared roast chicken, but the idea of the perfect bite itself! Making mac and cheese with some help from my co-star in the kitchen Bounty, the Quicker Picker Upper. Head to spr.ly/BountyQPU to pick up a coupon. In Quentin Tarantino's latest drug-laced, blood-soaked, profanity-peppered revisionist history masterpiece, food once again takes center stage alongside our singular protagonists. In a departure from his penchant for fictional brand names, a familiar box emblazoned in blue is shown as the preferred dinner of stuntman Cliff Booth. Can we improve on this childhood classic? Is there even a need to? Well, I decided to anyway. Sort of. Rarely does food play such a central character in a TV show or movie that's not specifically about food, but in The Sopranos, it might as well be one of the family. Okay, I have no idea how Kratos trains - probably by deadlifting the bones of frost giants or something. But I want to dress up as Kratos for New York Comic Con, and moreover, I want to start undoing all the damage done by my often-hilariously-unhealthy cooking show. How much can I get done in 30 days? Will I be shredded up by October? Why am I shirtless so much in this episode? Howl's Moving Castle is one of the many exquisitely animated (and profoundly confusing) expressions of destiny, growth, and love brought to us by Hayao Miyazaki. An even more ubiquitous theme in his films, however, is food. Few can so magically inspire hunger as the sizzling breakfast served up courtesy of Calcifer's demonic flames - can some at-home know-how help us bring the magic into our own kitchens? Love your videos! But for these noodles, you shouldn’t add the seasoning in the beginning when cooking the noodles. Because when you discard the water, you will lose a lot of the flavor. Cook the noodles first, discard most of the water then add both seasoning. Cook until water is reduced.

Thank you for the video. I was really surprised to see Korean Chinese cuisine on this channel. I'm glad you enjoyed the food. To add a little bit, jajang or jjamppong is usually cooked as wok, a Chinese frying pan. With the combination of powerful firepower and wok, Koreans enjoy the burning taste. I don't know well, but I think it's called wok hei in English. As a Korean, I am very proud of director Bong Joon-ho for receiving the award.

Hey Babish,, I’ve been watching and admiring your channel for a year and a bit more now. I literally have NEVER questioned your cooking for the most part and even have made a few of your dishes myself, and was quite successful. However, the jjapaguri you made with the pre-packets were kind of wrong.... You’re supposed to boil the noodles and non-powder packets (the dry peas and carrots + dry dasima) first, then drain most of the water (the amount of water you need to melt the power packets and lightly sauté your boiled noodles needs to be left in the pot) then add BOTH powder packets together. I kinda cried when I saw you add the neoguri powder to water with the noodles because that powder is the key to boosting the flavour and a bit of spiciness to the entire dish. You need BOTH packets added at the end to balance out the taste :) Please don’t block me for pointing this out😭 I’m Korean and I know how to make it properly and I just wanted to help
